How we look after your information

Care4Nepal respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit care4nepal.org, donate, shop or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Care4Nepal is a nonprofit organization registered in Nepal in 2016 as Herchaha Nepal (Care4Nepal), and established in the United States in December 2025 as Care4Nepal, Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. In this policy, “Care4Nepal”, “we” and “us” refer to these organizations.

2. Information we collect

  • When you donate: your name, email address, and any optional details you choose to give, such as postal address, city, state, postcode, country and phone number, together with the amount and the cause you support.
  • When you buy from our shop: your billing and shipping details, email address, phone number and the items you order. If you pay by bank transfer, we also see the payment details your bank provides.
  • When you contact us: the name, email address, phone number, subject and message you send through our contact form, by email or by phone.
  • If you create an account: your username, email address and an encrypted password, plus your donation or order history.
  • When you browse the site: our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to keep the site secure and working.

3. Payments

Online donations and shop payments are processed by PayPal. Your card or bank account details are entered on PayPal’s secure pages and are never stored on our website. PayPal handles that information under its own privacy policy. Shop orders can also be paid by direct bank transfer.

4. How we use your information

  • To process your donation or order and send you a confirmation or receipt.
  • To reply to your messages and questions.
  • To keep accurate financial records and meet our accounting, tax and legal obligations in Nepal and the United States.
  • To tell you how your support is being used, where you have given us your contact details. You can ask us to stop at any time.
  • To protect our website against fraud, spam and misuse.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the website and process payments, and only as much as they need: PayPal (payments), Hostinger (website hosting) and our email provider. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

6. Cookies and third-party content

Our website uses only the cookies it needs to work, for example to keep items in your shopping cart, remember a donation in progress and keep you signed in to your account. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics tracking.

Some pages load content from other services: fonts from Google Fonts, and a Google Map on our Contact page. When these load, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. Links to Facebook or PayPal take you to those websites, which have their own privacy policies.

7. How long we keep it

We keep donation and order records for as long as needed to meet accounting, tax and legal requirements. Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of our correspondence. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account.

8. Keeping it safe

Our website uses a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to personal information is limited to the people who need it to do their work. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it to contact you. Email us at info@care4nepal.org and we will respond as soon as we can. Some records, such as donation records, may need to be kept for legal or tax reasons.

10. Children and photos

Our website is not intended for children to submit personal information, and we do not knowingly collect it from them. Our pages include photos from our programs in schools and communities. If you are a parent or guardian and would like a photo of your child removed, please contact us and we will remove it.

11. International visitors

We work in Nepal and the United States, and our service providers may process information in other countries. By using our website, you understand that your information may be processed outside the country where you live.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
