Dear Care4Nepal Friends, Supporters, and Well-wishers,
Imagine sitting beside your child's hospital bed, watching them struggle in pain, while a doctor tells you they need an operation, and knowing you have no way to pay for it. For many low-incomer families in Nepal, this is not imagined. It is real, and it happens every day.
Recently, Care4Nepal stood beside a young girl who needed an operation costing about $1,500, and a woman whose surgery and treatment cost around $1,100. For families who struggle to put food on the table, amounts like these are impossible. Without help, they face a heartbreaking choice: borrow money they can never repay, or go without the treatment they desperately need.
No family should ever have to make that choice. When Illness Strikes, Poverty Makes It Worse
For families living in poverty, one illness can undo years of hard work. Parents sell their land, livestock, or belongings. They take loans with crushing interest. Children leave school to work. Some families delay treatment until it is too late, and tragically, some lose loved ones to illnesses that could have been treated.
Heart disease, high blood pressure, tuberculosis, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, and pregnancy complications can strike any family. For the poor, they can turn a difficult life into a desperate one.
There Is a Way We Can Help, Right Now
The Government of Nepal offers a health insurance program that gives families access to essential healthcare. For just $50 per year, a family of up to five people can enroll and receive up to $700 in annual healthcare benefits.
But for a family struggling to survive, even $50 can be out of reach. As a result, the families who need protection most are often the ones left without it.
This is where you can change everything.
Our Goal: Protect 200 Families till end of 2027
Through our Family Health Insurance Project, Care4Nepal aims to help 200 vulnerable families, up to 1000 people, enroll in Nepal's government health insurance program.
We are not replacing the government's healthcare system. We are building a bridge so the poorest families can benefit from protection that already exists.
Your Gift Can Protect a Family Before a Crisis Happens
💙 $50 protects 1 family (up to 5 people) for a full year 💙 $150 protects 3 families 💙 $250 protects 5 families 💙 $500 protects 10 families 💙 $1,000 protects 20 families
The girl and the woman we helped recently needed $2,600 in emergency support. That same amount could protect 52 families before a crisis ever happens. Prevention is the most powerful gift we can give.
Health insurance cannot prevent every illness, but it gives families access to treatment, financial protection, and peace of mind. For a poor family, that can mean everything. Illness does not wait, and neither should we. Every day without protection is a day a family is one emergency away from disaster. If you cannot donate right now, please share this appeal with friends, family, and colleagues. One share could reach the person who protects ten families.
Together, we can make sure that poverty never decides who receives medical care. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for standing with the families of Nepal.
Why is Care4Nepal supporting this program?
Our primary objective is to help vulnerable and low-income families access the government's existing health insurance program. Many low income families cannot afford even the annual insurance contribution. As a result, they remain financially exposed when someone in their family becomes sick or requires hospital treatment.
Through Care4Nepal, we want to help these families enroll in the government program and provide them with a greater sense of security. For our initial initiative, we aim to support 200 vulnerable families. A relatively small contribution can help protect an entire family of up to five members for one year. Our intention is not to replace the government's healthcare system but to help disadvantaged families benefit from a program that already exists.
We strongly believe that every family deserves the opportunity to receive medical treatment without falling into serious financial hardship.
Your kindness can prevent a medical emergency from becoming a financial disaster tomorrow.
