Seasonal Vegetable Farming Support – Progress Update 2026
Care4Nepal is pleased to share the progress of its Seasonal Vegetable Farming Support Programme, an initiative designed to empower local farming families, strengthen household income, and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the Sankhu community.
Through this initiative, Care4Nepal has been supporting local farmers by providing essential agricultural resources, including seasonal vegetable seeds, bamboo structures, and tunnel plastic to help farmers grow vegetables in a more protected and productive environment.
Progress and Achievements: We are happy to report several encouraging developments:
- Agricultural Support: Seasonal vegetable seeds and essential farming materials have been distributed to participating farmers.
- Tunnel Farming: Bamboo structures and plastic coverings have been provided to support protected vegetable cultivation and extend the growing season.
- First Harvest: Farmers have successfully harvested fresh coriander within approximately 20 days of planting, demonstrating encouraging early results.
- Growing Vegetables: Tomato plants and other seasonal vegetables are growing well, bringing new hope and opportunities for participating families.
- Vegetable Collection Facility: A vegetable storage and collection rack has been prepared to help farmers organise their harvest and improve local collection and distribution.
Creating Opportunities for Farming Families
This programme is not only about growing vegetables; it is about creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, improving household food security, and encouraging families to become more economically independent.
By providing practical agricultural support and resources, Care4Nepal aims to help local farmers increase their production, reduce dependency on external markets, and generate additional income through the sale of fresh vegetables.
